The use of films as motivational tools.

It's not a new phenomenon that movies have become great ways to get doses of motivation to deal with the adversities we encounter along the way.

For many years this area was dominated by books – mostly self-help books – that promised to solve all kinds of problems in a variety of ways.

Over time, movies have taken this place in the lives of the public and, nowadays, there is an entire film industry dedicated to producing this style of film, which has already won over audiences and, in most cases, becomes a major box office success.

But what caused books to lose their position as the main motivators for the public?

Among several less important factors, I would venture to say that what triggered this change in scenario was the accessibility of books.

While movies are much easier for the average Brazilian to access – whether through cinemas, streaming platforms, or the virtually extinct DVDs – books have become an increasingly distant option for the general public. This is due to their high prices, making them inaccessible to a large portion of the Brazilian population.

Another factor that may have influenced this change is the increasingly hectic routine we live in.

This leads Brazilians, when looking for entertainment, to end up opting for a movie – which is much quicker – rather than a book, which can take days to finish.
